So far this section only contains images from
Harstad in the very South of Troms region, plus the inevitable (for
me) contribution from Skånland kommune of their Artscape Nordland
sculpture. Although technically part of Troms, the location of
Harstad made it an ideal arrival point for my tour of the Lofoten
area and really feels more a part of Nordland.
However, it is a rather grim place; when it is
grey and overcast it feels like you are walking through a film set
by Kafka or a John le Carré novel and, when the sun shines, it just
feels unutterably boring.
I had saved up my holiday money to splash
out on a celebratory dinner on my last night before leaving.
After all I was staying at a four star hotel. However, this
was not to be as, in accordance with the strict standards of
Norwegian customer service, the restaurant was closed on Sunday.
I enjoyed a soggy burger across the road for a mere 169 kronor
(€15)!
