Gion is generally considered to be the heart of the historical entertainment district of Kyoto, allegedly full of geisha houses as well as the multitude of more conventional restaurants and bars.  However, despite several visits to Kyoto I have somehow never been in this area during the evening hours when it is supposedly at its liveliest, replete with kimono clad beauties hurrying to their places of work.

Still, even with all the establishments closed for the afternoon, it is a rather picturesque location for wedding photos.
