Despite being a rather recent reconstruction, the Heian Shrine still manages to convey much of the charm and beauty of older complexes, at least in the gardens.  Somewhat marred by visiting on a Sunday in cherry blossom season so being faced with not only locals out for their essential bunny eared photos, but hordes of pushy tourists all fighting to get to the front and blocking each other's views.

Clearly another place to have your wedding photos taken!
